The Man Behind the Mission
Swagelok Company was founded in 1947 by Fred A. Lennon (1905-1998), with a $500 loan and the promise of a colleague's design for an easy-to-install, leak-tight tube fitting. His mantra was, "Make the best product possible to help customers succeed, and keep making it better."
From the beginning, our founder insisted on core values – Quality, Respect for the Individual, Integrity and Customer Focus – and these live on with us today.
The History of Swagelok
1955
The Cajon Company was created & added precision pipe fittings to Crawford Fitting's tube fitting and quick-connects product line.
1969
Swagelok fittings & valves were used in the breathing pack for astronauts aboard the Apollo 9 Lunar Module.
1970
Swagelok fittings and valves were used on Alvin, the world's most advanced deep-sea submersible.
1980
Swagelok expands worldwide, to include Finland, South Africa, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, & Thailand.
1997
Cajon, Nupro, Sno-Trik, & Whitey brands are officially unified for Swagelok's 50th Anniversary.
1999
Steve Smith becomes the CEO & Distributor Principal of Swagelok North Carolina | East Tennessee
2001
A new stainless steel is employed to increase the toughness on tube fittings providing a new level of performance.

The US Navy declares Swagelok the sole tube fittings for use on United State Navy Surface Ships.
2008
Coreflex LLC is acquired & dramatically expands the range of hose products and services offered.
2015
Swagelok partnered with the world's most revered engineers to shatter the World Land Speed Record.
